A Guide To Kratom Dosage
How Can I Take Kratom?
The leaves can be chewed just as they are, raw, and this is how it is often used in the places where it grows. In the rest of the world, Kratom is usually found in the form of a powder, liquid or tablet.
The leaves are chewed after the tough vein in the middle has been taken out. Because the leaves are usually available dried and are a bit tough to chew, most people use Kratom in powder form. If you have dried leaves, and don’t want to chew them, you can turn them into a powder by putting them through a coffee grinder. The leaves can be brewed like tea. You can either drink the tea in the normal way, or you can boil down the tea to make a kind of resin. Some people like to mix Kratom tea with other kinds of teas and sweeten it with honey or brown sugar.
Kratom powder is the easiest to use and to measure. It makes it easy to make sure you get the dose you want. You can mix it with a milkshake or with juice because, to be honest, the taste is not that great. You can even mix it with yogurt. Kratom and chocolate milkshake is a popular choice. Kratom powder needs to be blended into the liquid you are using for the best tasting result. If you just stir it in to your drink, it will stay a lumpy powder. Although you can drink this down, why not make it nicer?
You can just take a pellet of Kratom, and this gives you an exactly measured dose.
Getting The Right Dosage
Getting the right Kratom dosage is very important because its effects change depending on how much you use. For example, in small doses, it can act as a stimulant, making you feel more alert and alive. Yet in large doses, it acts as a sedative, calming and soothing the user. And depending upon how you are taking it – in tea, as raw leaves, in tablets, resin, or in powder form – the dose will be different.
Of course, different Kratom products will have different strengths and levels of purity, so deciding on the right Kratom dosage to produce the effect that you are looking for can be a bit confusing! We are talking here about regular Kratom powder or Kratom leaves. You shouldn’t confuse this with Kratom Extract, enhanced Kratom or other Kratom products.
We’ll talk more about exact Kratom dosages further along, but for now, if you are new to Kratom, inform yourself before you start taking it. Check the instructions on the packaging. If you are not sure, go for a low dose rather than a high one. Don’t take a second dose a short while before the first one – take things steady.
What Types Of Kratom Can I Get?
There are three main types of Kratom which are you can generally find: White, Green, and Red Veined Kratom. People report that they respond differently to the different types of Kratom. Some folks find Red Veined Kratom gives them a better level of energy. On the other hand, some users of Red Veined Kratom find that it makes them feel jumpy and on edge, rather than giving them energy. People who prefer White or Green Veined Kratom like them for the feelings of pleasure and euphoria they offer. The energy levels produced by these two are generally lower than that of Red Veined Kratom.
Dosage Factors You Should Take Into Account
With any herbal supplement or medicine, you need to think about your own body mass. It’s clear that a big guy who weighs 250lb of pure muscle will probably be able to take a higher dose of Kratom than a slim girl weighing 100lb soaking wet! But people do differ in how they react to Kratom. Some people are very sensitive, others not so much. Some tall and heavy folks may just need to take a little to get an effect. On the other hand, some small people might need to take a lot. You should work to find your perfect dose. Always start at the low end of the Kratom dosage suggestions, if any.
Another factor which you should consider is whether you have recently eaten a big meal. If you have, the Kratom you take will probably be slower to work. If you are taking Kratom in the form of a pill or capsule, it isn’t going to hit your system all at once. Your body needs time to digest it. You should expect it to take at least an hour before you start to feel any effects from the Kratom that you took.
Don’t take Kratom with narcotics, high amounts of alcohol or other medicines in your body. Even a cough medicine can have a negative effect. Be careful with yourself – Kratom is for you to benefit from. Do not put yourself in danger with it.
How Should I Measure Kratom?
The best way to make sure that you get the dose you want if you are using leaves or powder is to weigh your Kratom. You need to buy a very accurate small digital scale. These are easy to find on-line. Using teaspoons as a measure is not very precise, and small changes in your dose can mean big differences in the effect. But for a rough guide, a teaspoon of finely ground Kratom powder weighs around 2 grams.
Suggested Starter Dosage For Kratom
As Kratom and Kratom users vary a lot, finding the right Kratom dosage for you means you need to experiment. You are looking for effects that will last for three to four hours.
A good place to start is by using 2 grams. You can use 3 grams if you are heavier or taller than average, 1’5 grams is you are smaller or shorter than average.
Remember that you can always change your dose, in fact, you should. But to stay with, go easy, and study how your body reacts.
The next time you use Kratom – no sooner than the next day – you can, if you want, up your dose. An extra 0.5 gram is a good extra amount. Remember to allow around forty minutes to an hour for the Kratom to take effect. Do not think it isn’t working and rush to up your dose.
Although Kratom has been shown over the years to be safe to use, like everything, you should use it carefully. Alcohol, medicines, even food can be healthy or harmful depending on how we use them. Kratom is no different.
A Common Mistake
A very common mistake that new users make is to feel that the Kratom they have taken has had no effect. You don’t feel a rush of energy or very alert. In fact, the dose that you took may have been too large for you. It may have had a sedative effect that you didn’t really notice.
Don’t rush to take a second dose if you feel that the first one didn’t work. If you think that the Kratom didn’t work, wait ten hours and then take another dose, this time, half of the first dose.
A great rule of thumb to use is, do not take a second dose of Kratom until four hours after your first one.
What If The Effect Was Very Mild?
So you took your dose of Kratom and felt a bit of energy, a bit of euphoria, but it wasn’t what you’d hoped for. Where was the great effect your friends told you about? And what’s the safe thing to do now?
After four hours, you can repeat the dose, and up it by 0.5 gram. Take care to observe your body and its reactions – this is a learning curve for you.
Kratom Dosage Levels
We share here some Kratom dosage levels to achieve specific effects. As ever, these are just a guide, not suggestions. By now you will have an idea how your body reacts to Kratom. Always start at the lower end of the scale and check out what happens.
Using Standard Kratom
For a mild stimulant effect – 2 – 4 grams of Kratom
For a little more stimulant effect – 3 – 5 grams of Kratom
For a stronger stimulant effect, mildly sedative and painkilling effects – 4 – 6 grams of Kratom
For a very strong sedative and pain-killing effect – not suitable for most people, this is for experienced users only – 6 – 8 grams
Using Ultra-Potent Kratom
For a mild stimulant effect – 1- 3 grams of Ultra-Potent Kratom
For a moderate effect, which can combine a sedative and a stimulant effect along with feelings of euphoria – 2 – 4 grams of Ultra Potent Kratom
For a stronger effect – like the above dose, but even more noticeable effects – 3 – 7 grams of Ultra Potent Kratom
For a strong effect – sedative and painkilling– 6 -10 grams of Ultra Potent Kratom
Taking more Kratom than this is NOT recommended, it could have a dangerous sedative effect. We always suggest that you start out by trying a low dose and closely observe the effect it is having on you. We can’t stress enough that each individual is unique in his or her reaction to Kratom. We can give general guidance, but you need to fine-tune it yourself.
It is very unlikely that if you take Kratom sensibly, you will feel any bad effects. We do suggest that when you first try it, you have a good friend with more experience of using Kratom to advise you.
You may find that your first experiences with Kratom leave you feeling a little nauseous. To avoid this, take Kratom around three hours after you have eaten a good well balanced and healthy meal.
There haven’t been any reported overdoses that are directly the result of taking Kratom. Should you take a large dose of Kratom by mistake, then your body would react by vomiting it up. Not a nice thought, but the body is safeguarding you!
Dosage When Trying a New Kratom Product
Even experienced users prefer to try a new Kratom product at a lower dose than they would usually use. This is good advice for the newbie too. Step the dose down at first, as your new product may be stronger than the one you are used to using.
How Long Does The Effect Of Kratom Last?
The usual length of time for you to feel the effects of Kratom is around five to six hours. So if you are planning on driving, using heavy equipment, or undertaking any particularly tough activity, it is wise to take that into account. Even if you are feeling very alert, it’s far better to be safe than sorry.
How Can Kratom Help Me?
Apart from its use to lift your mood or to calm you down, Kratom can be very useful in dealing with chronic pain. People who have diseases such as rheumatism have felt relief without bad side effects.
Kratom has been used in South East Asia, where it comes from, to help opium addicts withdraw. Kratom acts in much the same way as do opiates, but without their addictive properties. It can help with the pain and anxiety felt by those who, through no fault of their own, have become a pain pill addict..
Although Kratom is not thought to be addictive, it makes sense to make sure that you limit your use to no more than a couple of times a week. Anything which gives pleasure or relief can create a dependency, and no healthy person wants this to happen to them.
Kratom can have many benefits, but the main thing here is to use it wisely to improve your wellbeing, not to become dependent on it as a crutch.
